Description

Fess Parker Winery has created this limited edition custom bottling in support of HelpCureHD which will be sold throughout the 2024 holiday season. This is the winery’s second release in partnership with HelpCureHD. All proceeds will be donated to HelpCureHD.

HelpCureHD is a non profit organization that aims to help improve the quality of life for those affected by Huntington’s disease by contributing financial, emotional, and mental support while trying to find the cure.

Huntington’s disease is a hereditary brain disorder with no current known cure. Over 40,000 people are suffering from Huntington’s disease in the United States alone. The disease causes a deterioration in nerve cells, making it difficult to complete everyday tasks- walking becomes difficult, cognition slows, and the individual becomes completely unable to care for themselves.

Fess Parker Winery chose to support the HelpCureHD organization because Winery President Tim Snider’s family has been affected by Huntington’s. Tim’s father, Gary Snider, passed away from complications of the disease in 2023.

For the second year in a row, Fess Parker Winery and HelpCureHD has partnered with artist Debra Frederick for the front label art. This year, Debra’s piece titled “Red Poppies” will be on the label. Debra was generous to support last year’s bottling by donating her piece “Lifted.” Debra’s art can be found and purchased at https://www.debfredart.com/.

The HelpCureHD bottling is a re-release of the 2019 vintage of the very popular Fess Parker red blend “The Big Easy” (which received 93 points from Wine Enthusiast & 92 points from Wine Spectator, Antonio Galloni and Jeb Dunnuck). The wine is a blend of 62% Syrah, 24% Petite Sirah and 14% Grenache, the majority of which is grown on Rodney’s Vineyard on the Fess Parker Home Ranch.

Only 70 6-packs (420 bottles) of this wine was produced.

Wine Critic Reviews
"This Syrah-driven blend starts with smoked meat, dark fruit and pepper dust aromas on the nose. There’s an impressively chalky edge to the palate, which is much more interesting than the nose, offering blackberry paste, smoked beef rib, dried thyme, cracked pepper and a caramel finish." ~ Wine Enthusiast "Supple and user-friendly, with vibrant raspberry, espresso and spiced cinnamon flavors that linger on the polished finish. Syrah, Petite Sirah and Grenache. Drink now through 2029." ~ Wine Spectator "...Rich and unctuous, if offers up succulent black cherry, plum, chocolate, licorice and spice, punctuated by a dose of sweet American oak. The Big Easy is not exactly subtle, but it will delight readers who enjoy heady, opulent reds." ~ Antonio Galloni's Vinous "The 2019 The Big Easy is made in a forward, delicious, ready-to-go style and brings tons of ripe dark fruits, peppery herbs, and some candied violet notes to go with a medium to full-bodied, pure, balanced style. As with many of the 2019s here, it shows the fresher, more elegant style of the vintage beautifully, and is probably one of the top vintages of this cuvée." ~ Jeb Dunnuck
